an overabundance of stuff . . .
March 2, 2010 I'm trying to minimize the amount of stuff I take with me to work, because I wind up carrying a ginormous purse which frequently leads to headaches and neck aches. But, of course, I insist on carrying my phone, iPod, camera, Flip--since I got one for Christmas, and all their accoutrements; a book; my lunch; weather stuff; papers that need attention . . . BAH! It winds up being a butt-load of stuff even after I have cut back tremendously.
Jamie suggested that I just need a backpack, which is probably true . . . but here's the deal: 1) I don't have a cool, black, neoprene backpack, which it must be because I say so; and 2) I bet Jamie I could carry a little, itty, bitty purse for at least three months. He, of course, laughed in my face, which only made my resolve greater. So. Whatever. I have to carry a little, itty, bitty purse for a couple more months unless he is stricken with amnesia. Which actually wouldn't be good because he might forget that he loves me and is willing to put up with my . . . how should I say . . . idiosyncrasies.
As luck would have it, I came across this organizational tool on the web and just knew I had to have it. That tool would be the Grid-It from Cocoon Innovations.
It. Is. Awesome.

I started out with another one of my attempts at organization--mesh bags. They actually worked well enough, but they get tossed all around whatever bag I happen to be carrying and sometimes one gets left behind at home or at work. But also, I can't really see what's in the bags, so I'm not sure if I'm leaving something behind that I might need.
With the Grid-It all my electronics are secure, easy to see and easy to get to. And the really cool thing is this grid fits in my little, itty, bitty purse perfectly!
You should check out Cocoon Innovations on YouTube. They have lots of videos featuring their products and all the different ways people are using them.
I bought a Grid-It for everyone in the family just in time for our trip to California. The kids' will snap into 3-ring binders, which I plan to put together to help keep them organized on the road. It will be the perfect place to hold their DSi, charger, earphones, pencils, pens, and crayons. I also picked up a sun visor Grid-It so that we can keep the camera and Flip and other necessities close at hand during the drive, but out of the way.
So now that I have all my go-go gadgets better organized . . . I wonder if I can fit more stuff in my purse.
