bibliophiles in the making . . .

I figure I'm incredibly lucky, because not only do my children read well, but they actually like to read too.  Emy not so much as the boys . . . but she'll be a bookworm before we're done!  Hopefully.  She cracked me up when she picked up one book and commented, "No pictures?!  No way!"

I was pretty excited when a brand-spanking new library opened up in the neighborhood.  I went to check it out and signed the kids up for their first library cards.  We normally buy books, but we're making a major push to save money this year . . . so the library will work nicely with our new budget.

I picked the kids up from school on Tuesday and took them over to check it out.  It definitely was a hit.  I guess it helps that it's all clean and new and pretty!

I think it will be a great exercise in independence for all of us.  I can be in the same building . . . but not hovering.  I remember my dad leaving me in the children's area of our local library while he went and did his thing.  He may have been hovering, but I never saw him.

They've already finished their books and are ready to go back for more.  Sounds like a nice Saturday morning outing to me.

Does Emmy like the magic school bus? I read and read and read ( you get the idea) to ds all the time. It's the only thing he picks at the library.

I've not read the Magic School Bus to her. Though, they used to watch the show all the time. I don't have the read the same book to her over and over again, but she does like her Pinkalicious book a wee bit too much.

I miss the library. I had good times there growing up! We don't even have a library anywhere close to us in Sacramento. How freakin' SAD is that?

I had to give up most of my book buying also. It's amazing how they take over! I'm very lukcy to have a good library on the way home from work, plus we have a nice book wall in the lunch room at work. People drop off the stuff they are done with and I always find a ton of stuff there!
