never ending story . . .

I swear, Jamie is gonna break up with me if I don't stop asking him to help me rearrange the apartment.  I've only been here eight months and we've rearranged . . . I don't remember how many times.

Hmmm . . . let's just say the only pieces of furniture still in position from when we moved in are my bed & night stand and the bookcase in my restroom.

Homes are a work in progress right?  LOL

Anyway, I think I'm on to somethere this time.  Seriously.

I wasn't crazy about the layout before, mostly because I wound up living in my bedroom.  And I really didn't like my scrapbook supplies in the dining room . . . even if I don't use them all that often . . . they just didn't seem right in there.

So I had an idea in my head.  Jamie convinced me to make a little mock up, which I had to oblige him considering he was going to be doing most of the heavy stuff.  That was fun, scaling the room and furniture down at 6AM on a Saturday morning without a cup of coffee in him.  :giggle:

He helped me fine tune my idea and this is the final result.

I LOVE the two bookcases together.  I can't believe I never thought to do it before.  We put our big square dining room table up against the wall.  Perhaps a bit unorthodox, but great for us, because we tend to congregate when we play with paper.  And it's nice not to have to clear the table for every meal during a day filled with crafts.  The kids love it too.  It's a great place for them to do their homework and draw.

I had a smaller dining table in my bedroom acting as a desk . . . we moved that to the dining room until we could get a larger table.  But after using it for breakfast this morning we decided it was plenty big for the five of us so we're gonna stick with it for now.  Besides, if we need extra dining space for company, we've got the big table in the living room.

I wanted it to be more like a reading/library room than a typical living room, so our comfy couch and love seat stayed and luckily they still worked in the room with the big dining table.  I haven't had a chance to organize the books yet . . . we're still searching the apartment to find them all.

Here is a little closer shot of my scrapbooking bookcase.

Believe it or not, dedicating the entire bookcase to my supplies worked great because everything fits.  Even the supplies that were in my closet.  It also helped that I got rid of the paper trays, they took up so much room.  I'm not finished with the paper though, I still need to find something to stand it up in so I can actually look through it.  So if any of you have any suggestions for that I'm all ears . . . or eyes.

Now . . . on to another room . . .

Wow, Lesle. I love that. Are those both Expedit bookshelves? I have been considering one of those for our living room.
