And that's like, their job.  So they have to keep it varied and interesting and delicious . . . and as an added bonus, healthy.  Right?  So.  Cool!

Jamie had a looksee at the Real Simple website this weekend and found some enticing recipes that he plans to try.  There are lots of good looking meals featured on the site.  Check them out when you get a chance!

The first dish Jamie made was the Turkey Meat Loaf with Mashed Pots.  Now I'm not a fan of turkey, but I honestly didn't even realize I had eaten turkey until I was finished and we were talking about the recipe.  I LOVED how the loaf also contained 4 cups of chopped up spinach, because we've been trying to figure out how to sneak some leafy greens into the kids' diet.

That was the best meat loaf I've ever had.  Seriously.  It was scrumptious, and the kids scarfed it down.  So I know they'll enjoy their meatloaf sandwiches at lunch today!

But this time I wanted to add a little twist, if for no other reason then to make the kids think they were getting something different.  It seemed to work because all three of them thanked me for the "great" lunch.  And really all I did was follow the sushi roll recipe by rolling out their bread with a pin, spreading mayo on top, layering my ham and cheese and then rolling them into little finger sandwiches which I cut in half. 

:shrug:  Simple stuff.  I guess the little things do make a difference sometimes.

We've had some pretty busy weekends so far in this new year and we've been falling back on some tried and true lunches.  So there is only a couple new photos to share, which I'll upload today later.  I also want to work on some new menu items . . . because everyone gets tired of the same old, same old.  More importantly, I need/want to keep the kids excited about their lunches, and toting the bento to school.  To be successful at that we've got to mix it up a bit.

On another note . . . Goodbyn introduced it's new earless bentos with new colors on Facebook recently!!  Yay, mama can finally get her own charcoal Goodbyn!  Well, as soon as they start selling them.
